Last gasp winner send the Blues two points clear at the top of Group C
Chelsea sealed all three points in the last play of the game sending the players and travelling fans jubilant.
The Blues came into this on the back of a 6-0 win over Qarabag in their opening fixture of the group, however hosts Atletico struggled to get past Roma, only managing to secure a draw
This fixture marked an occasion, the first European game to be played at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Chelsea started off with a solid first-half perfomance but five mintues before the break that work was undone. David Luiz, suspended domestically, gave away a needless foul in the penalty area, albeit Lucas went down rather easily.
Griezmann stepped up to take the spot kick, and sent Courtois the wrong way to give the Spanish club the lead.
At this point, Chelsea were unfortunate to be behind.
But the Blues dominance soon paid off.
A lovely cross in from the left-hand side saw it meet Alvaro Morata's head, who then glanced it past Oblak into the far right-hand corner. Fully deserved.
A few chances passed here and there but Conte's side were given a free-kick with 20 seconds of the game to go.
Some called that it needed to go into the box but Willian thought otherwise. A ball from Kante into Bakayoko, who then flicked out wide to Alonso, and the Spaniard delivered the ball low into the box for Batshuayi to slot in from close range.
Chelsea had done it. The last kick of the game from substitute Michy Batshuayi had given the away side all three points.
It was an away performance that will be up there with one of the best, especially in Antonio Conte's team at Chelsea so far.
Next up, Manchester City at home under the lights on Saturday evening.
See you there!
