Marcos Alonso was a huge difference for Chelsea today in terms of game-changing moments as the Blues beat Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.

The Spaniard was adjudged to be fouled in the box by Fabian Schar which was then converted by Eden Hazard.

However, it was a 50/50 decision which caused some debate on social media and Alonso has had his say on the matter as he spoke to Sky Sports post match.

"I think I touch the ball and then I get in front of the player, in between the player and the ball and when I’m going to pass to [Olivier] Giroud, I just went down because he make me down.

Eden Hazard slotting his spot kick away.
Eden Hazard converted the spot kick with 15 minutes remaining.

"I think it was the right decision. Good win. Three points are massive for us."

It wasn't just that he was involved in, Alonso was involved in the winner as his strike was turned in by Yedlin to reclaim the lead for Chelsea, and it turned out to be the decisive goal in the game.

He's becoming our new forward - keep it up, Marcos!
