Michy Batshuayi set to stay at Chelsea and fight for spot against Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham

Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi is set to remain with the Blues for the upcoming 2019/20 campaign as Frank Lampard looks to have as many options as he can.
Publish date:

Batshuayi has been around the block on loan in recent years, heading to Germany [Borussia Dortmund], Spain [Valencia] and most recently across London with Crystal Palace.

But as per Goal, his spells away from Stamford Bridge are expected to end this year as he is likely to remain with the club.

Head coach Frank Lampard wants to keep the 25-year-old, who will be fighting for the striker spot against Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham, despite the latter being given the no.9 shirt recently.

Crystal Palace were interested in taking the Belgian forward back permanently, however they were put off by the £40 million price tag.

If Michy Batshuayi stays in West London, there will be many players who will be free to leave as the Blues look to adhere to the maximum 17 foreign players policy for their UEFA Champions League campaign.

Chelsea kick-off their season on August 11th at Old Trafford against Manchester United.
