The Blues were looking for their sixth consecutive win in the Premier League, and Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic's goals secured another win for Chelsea.

A stalemate in the first-half, but not in the second as the two scorers against Watford were on the scoresheet again one week later.

Another clean sheet, just the third of the season for Chelsea, and Frank Lampard was pleased with the hard task that his side faced.

"Yeah, every game in the Premier League is hard," Lampard responded in whether he was satisfied. "We started well but the tempo dropped. The intent we came out with though, it could have been more. A solid win and the clean sheet.

On Chelsea climbing up to second in the table, the Chelsea boss was pleased to pass another test, but insists the position in the Premier League is just a snapshot of what is to come from this Chelsea side.

"We passed that test, have had difficult teams to pass down. It is a test. A team like Palace can hurt you.

"It is hard to measure the expectations. At the moment the players are sustaining, they deserve to be at this level. It is still a snapshot of the long term future."

Chelsea still have many players to come back from injury to add to the depth of the squad - Loftus-Cheek, Antonio Rudiger, and Jorginho also missed Saturday's win through suspension.

Into second for the time being after 12 games this season, Frank Lampard's looking like the perfect appointment at Chelsea.
