Reece James set to return to training in two to three weeks

Matt Debono

James was set for an exciting season following his outstanding performances on loan with Wigan Athletic last season in his first season playing senior football.

However the youngster got an injury playing for England U21s in the off-season, and had to have surgery.

But there’s been an update on his return to training:

Davide Zappacosta is set to be allowed to leave as a result of James returning.

He will then fight it out with captain Cesar Azpilicueta to start at the right-back.

Like his teammates Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, James is set to sign a new deal at the club.

No. 1-1

The injuries we've had have been cruel. 3 players looking to break through in Hudson-Odoi, Loftus-Cheek, and James. I'd argue that Loftus-Cheek DID break through. I'm looking forward to seeing each of them get big time minutes this year.
