Thibaut Courtois has hit out at Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte regarding team-mate Eden Hazard, after the Belgian was taken off during the Blues' defeat to Manchester United last weekend.
Hazard was taken off for Pedro just before the Red Devils took the lead and the Chelsea number one could not understand why a decision to take the star off was made.
Speaking to PlaySports, via Goal, Courtois could not understand why Antonio Conte made a decision in a game which was a must win game for the side who are now out of the top four: "“I have no explanation for the substitution of Hazard.
“I had not expected him to be taken off but it is a choice of the manager. He must explain. I can’t look into his head."
The Chelsea attacker was one of the Blues' biggest threats at Old Trafford and Courtois believes that even if Hazard is having a quiet game, he can always pull something out the bag.
“Players like Eden should have 90 minutes on the pitch. He can always bring something extra offensive.”
Antonio Conte backed his decision saying it was due to 'tactical reasons' however with the Premier League champions drawing at the time, it looked a very unusual move.
They paid for the change, and now face an uphill battle to clinch a Champions League spot for next seasons European campaign. Up next is Manchester City, a test which won't be easy.
