Chelsea have emerged as surprise contenders in the race to sign Bayern Munich midfield starlet Renato Sanches, this according to a range of reports on Friday morning.
Conte reportedly spoke to Bayern officials after the pre-season game in Singapore earlier in the week to ask about the availability of Sanches, who has been linked with moves to AC Milan and Manchester United.
The German Club are not keen on allowing such a highly rated young talent to leave on a permanent deal, but they are very interested in allowing him to leave on loan.
Chelsea appear to be content with that taking into account the current size of their squad, and could well land the 19-year old Portuguese international for the season with perhaps a view to buy.
Meanwhile The Blues are busy attempting to complete a deal for Juventus Full Back Alex Sandro in what seems like a transfer pursuit that has been going on for years.
It has been reported that Conte wants the Chelsea Board to step up the negotiations with the Serie A Club when their pre-season tours ends this weekend.
Sandro will not be allowed to leave for under £60m and has not yet signed a new deal with his current Club.
Chelsea are not only looking thin on the ground in terms of numbers, but also on their home grown player quota.
Reports today have suggested that they will move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain of Arsenal and Ross Barkley of Everton in an attempt to bring in some English players.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is refusing to sign a new deal with Arsenal and wants to leave as does Barkley at Everton, the latter having already confirmed their player will be leaving this summer.
Both England Internationals have one year left on their contracts which could force their Clubs into selling.
There is competition for Barkley with Tottenham and Arsenal apparently both keen, but it will take almost £50m to sign him according to The Telegraph.
Oxlade-Chamberlain however would be less at around £30m.
