The 21-year-old was given the nod to start by Frank Lampard ahead of Callum Hudson-Odoi after a couple of impactful performances off of the bench in recent weeks.

He was joined by Willian on the other flank, but it was Pulisic who made the first impact against Burnley as he fired Chelsea ahead.

Pulisic has been on form in recent weeks; on Wednesday against Ajax he produced the assist to hand Chelsea all three points in Amsterdam, whilst he also made an impact as he came on with the scores level against Newcastle United last week to secure another Premier League victory for the Blues.

Within 20 minutes, Pulisic repaid Lampard for his chance from the start with an excellent goal to put Chelsea ahead against Burnley.

He ran from the half-way line, spinning the defender to run at goal, a stepover to take him on his left-foot and his shot found the bottom corner giving Nick Pope no chance.

That is Pulisic's first goal for the club since joining Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund. He will be hoping there is plenty more to come after a handful of assists this season also to his name.

But he wasn't done there, he added another just before half-time. This time on the right-foot.

Pulisic went to the right of the box, and he struck his effort towards goal, and via a deflection bagged his brace for the Blues!

He continued in the second-half and this time he scored with his head. From a cross, the USA star headed past Pope to get his third and Chelsea's third in Lancashire.

What a game for Pulisic. His first ever hat-trick.

Head coach Frank Lampard said the USA star was deserving of his start against Burnley, and now he could see himself become a regular in the starting XI. The patience with the 21-year-old has paid off.

Frank Lampard's side could make it seven wins on the bounce with a win at Turf Moor and Christian Pulisic has put the Blues in firm control in Lancashire.

Chelsea currently sit in fourth spot and can consolidate their spot in the top four with a win.
