It has not been an easy start for some of the Liverpool youngsters that have been loaned out to gain valuable match experience.
A number of the younger players appear to be struggling to get the regular starts hoped for by the club. Whilst its still early days, Jurgen Klopp and his extended management team will be hoping to see some signs of positive progress over the coming weeks.
English Championship Round Up
There was a start for Leighton Clarkson in Blackburn's 2-0 victory at home to Hull City in midweek with the midfielder being withdrawn after 54 minutes. He followed that up by coming on as a substitute in the 67th minute in Rovers' 0-0 draw away at Barnsley on Saturday.
Ben Davies returned to the Sheffield United line up on Saturday after missing out through injury in the 2-2 draw against Preston North End at Bramall Lane on Tuesday.
There was some concern therefore when Davies was withdrawn after 85 minutes in the 3-1 win at Hull City at the weekend. Manager Slavisa Jokanovic went on to explain though that the central defender could have continued.
In form Sepp van den Berg played 90 minutes in both of Preston's games over the last week. The Dutch defender helped North End to a 2-2 draw against The Blades and then a 1-1 home draw versus West Brom.
After missing out on Swansea's midweek 0-0 draw with Millwall, Rhys Williams returned to the starting XI on Saturday at Luton. Williams was substituted at half time as Luton stormed into a 3-0 lead before The Swans fired back in the second period to snatch a 3-3 draw.
As reported by bbc.co.uk, there was some unsavoury news as Williams was allegedly racially abused by a supporter, a matter which is now being looked into by Bedfordshire Police.
Sheyi Ojo missed both of Millwall's games at Swansea and at home to Coventry City through illness.
English League Two Round Up
Youngster Paul Glatzel was an unused sub in Tranmere's 2-0 win at home to Salford City in a game that saw both teams finish with 10 men.
Glatzel did play the full game for Rovers' however in the 4-1 victory over Leeds United Under 21s in the EFL Cup earlier in the week.
20 year old midfielder Jake Cain was given 57 minutes in Newport County's 1-0 defeat at home to Northampton on Tuesday but did not make the squad to play Walsall on Saturday.
It is unclear as it stands whether he has a knock or was just left out for tactical reasons.
Scottish Premiership Round Up
Welsh international Ben Woodburn was booked for simulation in the first half of the 2-2 draw between Ross County and Hearts.
He was later substituted in the 65th minute with a tight calf in a move that manager Robbie Neilson described as precautionary in the Edinburgh News.
"Ben’s calf was tightening up, which happened in the previous game. He hasn’t played a lot of football. You could leave him out there for another ten minutes, then his calf goes and he’s out for six weeks.”
“We thought it would be best to take him off. Jamie Walker came on and I thought he was excellent for someone who hasn’t played for a while.”
Another Liverpool youngster Adam Lewis returned to action in Livingston's fine 1-0 victory over Celtic on Sunday. Despite picking up an early yellow card for a nasty looking challenge, Lewis performed well playing the full 90 minutes.
Scottish League One Round Up
In League One, Luis Longstaff made a late appearance in the 80th minute as Queens Park maintained their position at the top of the table with a 2-2 draw away to Clyde.
Ireland FAI Cup Round Up
There was a convincing 3-0 victory versus Wexford FC for St Patrick's Athletic in the FAI Cup Quarter Finals. Vitezslav Jaros kept a clean sheet in a game that saw two red cards in the first half.
Wales Cymru Premier Round Up
There was another clean sheet for an on loan Liverpool goalkeeper Jakub Ojrzynski in Caernarfon's 2-0 win at home to Cardiff Met FC. This was his second shut out in succession in a game that leaves Caernarfon in fourth place.
Spain LaLiga 2 Round Up
Liverpool's on loan Colombian international Anderson Arroyo played the full game to help Mirandes come from behind in the last ten minutes to beat Tenerife 2-1.
