Xherdan Shaqiri has enjoyed a good start to life with Olympique Lyonnais and has already endeared himself to the supporters of 'Les Gones'

Shaqiri received a pass from Bruno Guimaraes on the right side of the penalty area near the by-line. He cut back inside before firing an unstoppable left foot shot into the top corner.

In his first start for the club, he had already provided an assist when his pinpoint right foot cross was headed home by Jason Denayer in a 3-1 home win against Strasbourg.

Swiss outlet Tagblatt described the Swiss superstar as a 'Phenomenon' and explained how the fans of the French club had already taken to him.

Shaqiri, a popular player amongst Liverpool fans, was signed by the team managed by Peter Bosz for a reported fee of close to £10million late in the summer transfer window.

He made the biggest impact of his Reds career in his first season after signing from Stoke City when he contributed six goals and three assists in 24 Premier League appearances as Liverpool narrowly missed out on the title.

He will always remain in the hearts of Liverpool supporters after his famous double off the substitutes bench against Manchester United that season.

Whilst his career at Anfield stuttered after that due to injury, there is no doubt in the quality that the Swiss possesses.

It will not come as a surprise to Liverpool fans therefore that the diminutive playmaker has already shown what he can offer the French club in terms of goal contributions.

It has been a slow start for Olympique Lyonnais this season with them already ten points off the top in Ligue 1.

They will be hoping that with Shaqiri's help, they can improve on their current points tally of eleven from seven games.

They will also be hoping to progress into the latter stages of the Europa League, a competition they have started well by beating Steven Gerrard's Rangers 2-0 at Ibrox.
