Benzema Ahead Of Salah And Lewandowski - Thierry Henry On The Star Men At Real Madrid, Liverpool And Bayern Munich

Former Arsenal and Barcelona legend Thierry Henry has given his opinion of where Mohamed Salah of Liverpool ranks when compared to Karim Benzema of Real Madrid and Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich.

The Egyptian has been in sensational form this season with 12 goals in all competitions and this has led to many experts claiming he is the best in the world currently.

Salah 'Not Yet The Best'

Henry is not convinced however and told CBS Sport he doesn't think he is the best in the world yet but is the best player in the Premier League.

"The goals that he is scoring, at the moment, are very good. But how can you forget about Lewandowski? How can you forget about Benzema? How can you forget doing it at the national level also?"

"Right now, he’s suffering a bit with Egypt. It’s not easy. But he’s not doing in there yet. But those goals are ridiculous. I love Salah. But he’s not yet the best. Is he the best player right now in the Premier League? By a distance.”

Benzema The Best Due to International Form

Henry claimed the differentiating factor between the players is international form.

“On current form are you not putting Benzema there right now, with the way he is playing? What he is doing for France and at the Euros? It’s not that clear, for me. I have been watching those games.”

“This is why Benzema is ahead because he has been a complete player, with goals for a long time. Salah is becoming a good player, not only a great goal scorer.”

LFCTR Verdict

There is no argument against what Henry is saying about the form of Benzema. The Frenchman has been in supreme form for Real Madrid which forced Didier Deschamps to recall him after many years out of the national team.

The consistency of goal scoring for both Lewandowski and Salah is also quite remarkable and it is therefore very difficult to separate the achievements of the three players.

It's is a little unfair to compare the performances for their national teams as France have far more quality than Poland and Egypt.

In any case, Lewandowski has 72 goal in 127 appearances for Poland and Salah 43 in 71 matches so neither player can be deemed as 'suffering' at international level.

To say one is better than the rest is a difficult argument as they are three brilliant players so it's no surprise to see differing opinions.
