Jordan Henderson says Harvey Elliott is a 'Special Player'

Liverpool fans have a right to be excited about Harvey Elliott this summer and skipper Jordan Henderson has said what an amazing talent he is.

Liverpool signed Harvey Elliott from Fulham the season after winning the Champions League.

At the time, Elliott was getting chased by the likes of Real Madrid as well as Liverpool. However, the youngster only ever had his eyes set on playing for his boyhood club, Liverpool.

Since then, Elliott has impressed massively. He played a small part in the Premier League winning campaign and then the season after he had a very successful loan to Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.

Fans were hoping that the 18-year-old would play a bigger part in the Premier League season for 2021/22 but it seems like Jurgen Klopp wants him to help replace Gini Wijnaldum.

That isn't a 'bigger part', that is a monumental part for Elliott. However, despite his age, he has massively impressed Jurgen Klopp, the coaching staff and the first team players.

The 18-year-old played in central midfield with Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson, where he completed a full 90 minutes.

The Anfield faithful was really impressed with how Elliott performed for his first time in front of a full crowd.

He looks like he has been playing in this Liverpool squad for years. Elliott didn't look out of place for one second.

The 18-year-old was also denied an assist after VAR chalked off Mohamed Salah's goal for offside.

After this game, his midfield partner and captain Jordan Henderson has this to say on Elliott:

“Harvey’s a special player. He’s been fantastic last season when he was on loan at Blackburn and then he’s come back in great shape for pre-season and done really well, so he deserved his start today and I thought he took it.

“I thought he was outstanding, his work rate, but also obviously the stuff he can do on the ball, the final passes. Overall I thought he was outstanding.”

Harvey Elliott looks set to play a huge part in Liverpool's hunt for the Champions League and Premier League this season. Hopefully he can grab a few goals and assists from midfield too!
