James Milner captained Liverpool in the first of two games against Italian side Bologna today.
The Reds won 2-0 in the first game, courtesy of a Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota goal after two mistakes from the Bologna defence.
Another person who impressed during that game was the youngster Harvey Elliott.
Elliott has been a massive part of pre season and it seems like he is going to be playing as a midfielder next season, if pre season is anything to go off that is.
During his Milner's interview after the game, he praised Elliott and said he was going to be a big player for Liverpool next season:
"With the talent he's got he is going to be a big player this season." said Milner.
"Harvey Elliott is a top player - you could tell the first time you trained with him. He's had a good pre-season up to now and the more minutes he gets the closer he will be. He is a confident lad with a great mindset. Hopefully the boys can help him."
James Milner also had this to say on the game: "I thought we went up another level today. The work we are doing is paying off. We looked organised - it was a good step up and closer to where we want to be.
"It was pleasing to get the goals. We can still improve our ratio of converting chances to goals.
"It's just about getting the minutes in at the moment - we're not coming into these games fresh - we've had four very tough weeks here - we've worked really hard - the training has really helped us work on the situations where we need to improve."
Hopefully Liverpool can show similar form in their final two pre season games at Anfield next week!
