'One Of The Very Best' - Liverpool's Mohamed Salah Compared To PSG's Messi

The plaudits continue to arrive for Liverpool's Mohamed Salah who has enjoyed a magnificent start to the season. The Egyptian seems to have moved up a level in his performances so far and this culminated in the brilliant goal against Manchester City which has been described as 'Messi-like'.

Ex England international Kevin Phillips has been speaking about Salah and his form this season.

Speaking to Football Insider, Phillips said the 29 year old is now one of the best players in world football.

“He’s right up there among the world’s best,” 

“He’s one of the very best.

“He’s come under criticism at times for going off the boil, but he’s done what the best players do."

“Without saying anything, they prove the doubters wrong on the pitch."

“He’s so influential to Liverpool, his stats are excellent."

Phillips On 'Messi-like' Goal

Phillips also spoke about Salah's wonderful individual goal against Manchester City at Anfield earlier in the month. He likened the goal to another of the world's top players.

"Watching him score that goal in the City game, it was almost Messi-like – especially to do it against one of the best sides in Europe."

Phillips On A New Deal For Salah

There was no doubt from Phillips that Salah should be given a new deal at Liverpool, whatever it takes.

“He deserves every penny. If he had left without being offered this deal then all hell would’ve broken loose on Merseyside.“

Liverpool supporters will be hoping the Egyptian's sensational form continues today at Watford as the Premier League returns.
