Jurgen Klopp Praises Brentford Ahead of Premier League Clash

Liverpool face Brentford this Saturday and Jurgen Klopp had some interesting things to say in his pre-match press conference.

Liverpool are set to play Brentford for the first time in 32 years tomorrow afternoon and despite being newly promoted, they appear to be taking the Premier League in their stride.

Jurgen Klopp has been massively impressed with Thomas Frank's side and in his pre-match conference, he heaped a lot of praise on the side.

Thomas Frank

"I watched the press conference of Thomas Frank and it was one of the most entertaining things I've watched in the last few years. They are doing a brilliant job. How they recruit with less money - they can create something special.

"Brentford have a chance against us as it is football. They are well-drilled with the 3-5-2. Everyone is ready to make the extra yard with a new stadium. We know what to expect, it will be a tough one and rightly so. It's just a really important game for us."

Klopp also went on to talk about their exciting squad and how they have a great recruitment process.

Ivan Toney

"They have found the next one with Ivan Toney - they really work as a unit - giving Ivan the trust and faith - you can see what you can get out of a player. It's not about the problems you have, it's solutions. Brentford is a nice story.

"They have really tall centre-backs and really speedy and committed wing-backs. They all defend like they are playing the last game of their lives and I am really impressed with that. I really like what they do."

Jurgen also gave a quick injury update. The most notable ones were about Naby Keita and Thiago Alcantara's, who are set to miss the upcoming game.

"It's a muscle in the calf. It is not 100% clear when he [Thiago] will back. After the international break probably. I don't think it will be any earlier.

"Nothing too serious but it will keep him [Keita] out of the next game and potentially a little longer. It is painful and we have to see how he deals with it. It is not cool. He had a good pre-season and he played a lot of games but it happens."

Liverpool have also become somewhat of an expert team in producing goals out of corners in recent years. Especially this season where all three of Liverpool's goals against Crystal Palace game from corners and Klopp had his say on them.

Virgil van Dijk Nick Pope

"Two years ago we were exceptional with set-pieces - last year we didn't have that. We always work on set-pieces, our analysts are really creative there but we have a nice basis which we use from time to time. Virgil, Ibou, Joel can be a threat."

The German manager also spoke about Liverpool's amazing defensive record this season. The Reds have only conceded one goal in the Premier League and currently have four clean sheets.

"Ali in moments has made brilliant saves - as a unit we have defended so far pretty well. Nobody wanted to hear it in pre-season but we have three new players, Virgil, Joe and Joel. You need to have a clear defending attitude.

"Against Palace it was a new last line. We won't make it to game 38 with one goal conceded, but we are more stable and that is what we need to be successful. We will need to defend well because we cannot always fly, and we will need to grind out results at times."

Finally, Klopp was asked about Takumi Minamino and about his journey with Liverpool since he signed.

"He is an outstanding talent. Everything was difficult when he joined and you need to get used to the Premier League. It helped massively going to Southampton and he came back a different player and a different package. Players need time."
