Liverpool FC News

Liverpool will be very pleased with their outing last week which saw them beat Norwich City 3-0. However, the excitement around this game will certainly be different. This will be the first game in front of a crowded Anfield.

On the injury front, Liverpool will still be without Andy Robertson. Kostas Tsimikas, who had a decent game deputising for Robertson, is expected to continue at left back. The Greek Scouser is slowly making a name for himself at Anfield.

Curtis Jones is available for selection after suffering a concussion in the last friendly game. However, there is little chance that he will start as Thiago and Henderson both played 80 minutes in a closed door friendly against Aston Villa on Sunday. We can expect one of those two to replace Oxlade-Chamberlain in the starting line-up.

We can expect Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk to continue to link-up at centre-back. Liverpool have lost only one out of the last 44 league matches whenever Matip has started. Staggering!

Burnley News

Burnley are one of the few teams who can boast of an Anfield win in 2021. They defeated Liverpool 1-0 in January this year. Sean Dyche will be hoping that his men can repeat that performance this time around.

After losing the opening fixture to Brighton, Burnley will have be boosted with the return of Kevin Long and Dale Stephens. They have been training regularly and should be fit for selection.

We might once again see Jay Rodriguez preferred over Matej Vydra to start in attack. In addition to that we can expect to see £12million summer signing, Nathan Collins make his debut after moving to the Clarets from Stoke City.

In Conclusion

This promises to be a loud afternoon in Merseyside. Klopp’s men will certainly be pumped to take place in front of a full stadium after a long time. I am sure Liverpool will want to get off to a winning start at home and reinstate Anfield as a fortress in the English Premier league. I am going for a totally one-sided affair with Liverpool coming out with a convincing victory.
