Porto v Liverpool: MOTM

Liverpool smashed Porto 5-1 yesterday and one player dictated the whole game!

Liverpool smashed five goals past Porto on Tuesday night.

All in all the Reds blew the Portuguese champions away, at their own ground.

It was a game that saw each of the original members of the front three on the scoresheet. But also, Curtis Jones heavily impressed yet again after his MOTM performance against Brentford.

Curtis Jones ran the game and reminded me of a young Steven Gerrard in his performance. Despite only having two official assists, the 20-year-old played a key role in four of the goals and was instrumental to how Liverpool won the game.

Despite looking low down in Klopp's pecking order at the start of the season, Jones now puts himself in a great position to start going into the game against Manchester City on Sunday. On form, he is simply undroppable and should be a guaranteed starter for Sunday's game.

Although Mohammed Salah and Roberto Firmino (when he came on) both got a brace, Jones has to be given the Man Of The Match.

The youngster dicated play and looked like he has been playing in that midfield for about 10 years.

With Thiago and Harvey Elliott ruled out for the Manchester City game and Naby Keita still coming back from his injury, Jones will be a contender to start. Especially if James Milner is covering Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.

If today is anything to go by then Curtis Jones is destined for great things in the future. Hopefully he can follow in his idols, Steven Gerrard, shoes.
