This week’s Stolen XI is based on Brentford, which of The Bee’s players should Liverpool steal? Let’s find out!
Thomas Frank’s team are one of the three that were promoted into the Premier League and they have been on excellent form, gaining points from four out of five games.
They were touted as one of the three teams to go down into the Championship but they have surpassed all odds and even achieved a 2-0 victory over Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
Brentford made some brilliant acquisitions over the summer but the three players that I would like Liverpool to consider stealing are Ivan Toney, Bryan Mbeumo and Christian Nørgaard.
Ivan Toney contributed to a record breaking 37 goals and assists in the 20/21 season and was touted with many deals last summer including a £40million move to Arsenal. Toney is an out and out forward and has scored a few goals this season and has been a real spark in Brentford’s team.
Bryan Mbeumo started his professional career out with Troyes and made 41 appearances, scoring 11 goals. He made a name for himself when he first joined the Brentford squad and was a part of one of the most dangerous strike forces the Championship had seen (Saïd Benrahma, Ollie Watkins and Himself.) He has appeared in all five of Brentford’s top-flight games so far this season and adds real pace and flair to the team.
Bryan Mbeumo is a right winger by trade but he can play across each of the front three with ease, he has a clinical finish and is full of pace. He would add an extra layer of depth into Liverpool’s squad and could provide the cover that Liverpool will need when key players such as Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané go to represent their countries in the AFCON.
The last player I would like Liverpool to consider stealing is Christian Nørgaard. He is a towering Danish midfielder who Brentford signed Italian club Fiorentina in the 2019/20 season for £3.1 million. Ever since he has signed for The Bees he has been the anchor of their team and was even named in the Denmark national squad for Euro 2020.
Nørgaard has played every minute of Brentford’s premier league campaign and has showcased that he deserves to be in the position that he’s in. He has formed a solid partnership with new signing Frank Onyeka and they work with each other very well.
With all these stats and ideas in mind I feel that the best player for Liverpool to steal would be Bryan Mbeumo as he would fit into Liverpool’s system extremely well and would add another option to their attack.
