Liverpool’s Alisson Not Nominated For Yashin Trophy

Inaugural winner out of running for 2021 award as he doesn’t make ten man shortlist.

Liverpool's Alisson Becker has not made the shortlist for the 2021 Ballon d'Or Yashin Trophy which is awarded by France Football to the best goalkeeper on the planet.

The award is named after legendary Russian goalkeeper Lev Yashin who is one of the greatest goalkeepers in football history.

The Reds number one was the inaugural winner of the award in 2019 after he helped Liverpool to their sixth European Cup triumph.

Due to the pandemic, there was no award in 2020 but Alisson is not on the list to win this year's.

The Brazilian appears to be back to his brilliant best this season after his levels dropped slightly in the last campaign along with many others at the club.

It can't be ignored however that he did suffer a number of niggling injuries and suffered personal tragedy when his father passed away so any decline in form was understandable.

The Premier League is represented for the 2021 award by Manchester City's Ederson, Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez, Edouard Mendy of Chelsea and Kasper Schmeichel of Leicester.

The nominees are as follows:

Ederson (Manchester City)
