Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has called an emergency meeting with Premier League captains to discuss and find a response to the news of the European Super League, which threatens to destroy the English football pyramid.
Jurgen Klopp and his players were kept in the dark regarding the breakaway Super League and only found out about it when the rest of us did.
Klopp and vice-captain James Milner both stated their disapproval’s of the Super League when asked following Monday’s 1-1 draw against Leeds United with Milner stating, “I don’t like it and I hope it doesn’t happen.”
Since the announcement, past and present Premier League players Dejan Lovren, Ander Herrera, Mesut Ozil, Daniel Podence, Patrick Bamford and Bruno Fernandes have voiced their concerns, with Premier League managers Thomas Tuchel and Pep Guardiola sharing some thoughts during their recent press conferences.
The crucial meeting set for Wednesday will include representatives from the six English clubs signed up for the Super League and the other 14 who have been left out.
Henderson is seen as a trusted and respected figure among Premier League players and in the past has been the first to step up to evoke change.
