Liverpool Make Mbappe Enquiry

The sought after French forward could leave PSG this summer

With the transfer merry-go-round in full swing, Liverpool are once again linked with Kylian Mbappe and reports now suggest the Reds have made an official enquiry for the Frenchman.

The notorious Spanish publication Marca, are reporting that Liverpool have enquired about the Paris Saint-Germain forwards availability this summer.

Mbappe has one year left on his current contract with no intention to sign a renewed deal with the French side.

PSG will do all they can to keep their star man, but the former French champions also know that failing to cash in on Mbappe this summer would result in him leaving on a free transfer next summer.

This is the worst case scenario for PSG as they know they would receive a hefty fee for the 22 year-old should anyone be willing to provide the funds.

Marca reports that Real Madrid are unlikely to try and wrap up a deal for Mbappe this summer, leaving the door open for Liverpool to make a move.

These reports should be taken with the smallest pinches of salt possible as the Spanish outlet has not been the most reliable in the past when it comes to transfer news.

This is also coupled with the fact that multiple reports in the UK and around Europe have suggest Liverpool will once again follow their policy of selling before buying this summer.

Even if Liverpool were to deviate from this strategy, it is unlikely the Reds could afford to pay the transfer fee PSG would set for Mbappe, as well as the forwards astronomical wages.

Kylian Mbappe has had high praise for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool in the past and would undoubtedly be a perfect fit under the German coach.

A deal for the Frenchman would not be impossible, there is always the option to return next summer and pursue a free transfer for the 22 year-old.

But even without a transfer fee, Liverpool would need to take a hefty chunk of their budget to match Mbappe's wage bill.

The Reds currently pay large wages to many of their players, but these are deals which have grown due to the success of the players within the team and Liverpool's desire to keep them.

The only possible option that would allow the Reds to execute any deal is by selling not one, but possibly even two of their stand out players.

A fee plus Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah could be enough to convince PSG to sell Mbappe this summer.

This would be a gamble not worth taking as both men still have a lot to offer Liverpool despite dropping form in Mane's case last season.

Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to sacrifice either of his top men unless they are pushing for a move away from Anfield.

It would be fair to say the links to Kylian Mbappe are becoming tedious for Liverpool fans at this stage.

The French forward moved to Paris in a move worth up to €165million and has only improved since his arrival in 2018, scoring 111 goals in 127 appearances.

Paris Saint-Germain have not only priced Mbappe out of the market by default, but now look to face the inevitable outcome that he will leave on a free transfer next summer.
