Liverpool have already filled an important gap heading into next season with the signing of French centre-back Ibrahima Konate. There are still several other areas that Liverpool need to make new additions to if they are to once again challenge for the Premier League title. The Reds are looking to offload several players this season and if such players depart, then they will need to be replaced.
With the African Cup Of Nations in January 2022 and the likely departure of Divock Origi, Liverpool will need to ensure they have attackers at the ready to come in and play an important role for the Reds.
The club have been linked with many forwards in the transfer window so far including Patson Daka. It will come as a blow to fans that Daka has agreed a deal with Leicester.
According to Sky Germany, Liverpool have turned their attention towards Netherlands forward Donyell Malen. The 22 year-old is currently playing for his country in the European Championships, making two appearances and adding an assist to his tally against Austria in a 2-0 win.
Malen enjoyed an impressive season with PSV scoring 27 goals in 45 appearances. The Dutch forward is available for just £25million which is generous given his goal tally last season. This price tag could increase if the young forward continues to impress in this years Euros.
Borrusia Dortmund have been heavily linked with the 22 year-old this summer and given the German giants reputation for neuturing young talent and improving their game, this would be a good move for Donyell Malen.
Dortmund could also be in the market for a replacement for Jadon Sancho should he make the move away from Germany this summer.
Signing Malen would be a gamble for Liverpool given he is not yet proven in a more competitive league, and he may not yet be ready to make the jump to a top Premier League side. The Netherlands forward could fit in well with Jurgen Klopp's style and given that Liverpool need to target a striker, Donyell Malen could be well worth the gamble.
