Mohamed Salah Pips Curtis Jones to Liverpool's September Standard Chartered Men's Award

For the second month running, Mohamed Salah has been named Liverpool's Standard Chartered men's Player of the Month.

After a brilliant September for the Egyptian he won the fan poll on the official Liverpool website to win the award and see off the challenge of Curtis Jones who finished runner up.

Salah's form appears to have scaled new heights this season and this was his second award of the day after earlier receiving recognition for winning the PFA Fans Player of the Month award for September.

Salah collected the trophy on Thursday at the AXA Training Centre after scoring six goals in September in both the Premier League and Champions League.

Speaking to, the 29 year old was keen to emphasise that the most important thing is that the team keep on winning.

"I'm trying to help always, to score goals and make the team win games – that's the most important"

When quizzed about his favourite goal of the month he opted for one of the three scored in the Champions League.

"Maybe I choose Milan. [It's] the first time I scored against them in the Champions League. Also, we were 2-1 down so it was an important goal to get us back in the game, so I can choose this one."

September was another great month for Liverpool's Egyptian King. October also got off to a flyer with the fantastic goal against Manchester City and Reds fans will be hoping for more of the same starting this weekend at Watford.
