It has been reported this afternoon that Barcelona have reached an agreement over a new deal with Spanish sensation Pedri. After losing Lionel Messi in the summer to PSG, the Catalan club will be delighted to secure the player and have inserted a huge release clause into the contract.
Pedri's current contract was due to expire at the end of the season which had Barcelona looking over their shoulders at potential suitors.
Tutto Mercado Web had reported Jurgen Klopp's interest in the 18 year old star who impressed in La Liga last season and for Spain during the UEFA European Championship.
They claimed that the powers that be at Anfield were preparing a €100million bid for the midfielder and reported that 'Klopp is already in love with the player's style, pace, and vision'.
Any hopes that Liverpool had of signing Pedri appear to have been dashed however as transfer guru Fabrizio Romano tweeted this afternoon that an agreement between the player and Barcelona was now in place.
According to Romano, the new contract will be until June 2026 and the release clause will be for a staggering €1billion.
It's been a troubled time for Barcelona who have serious financial issues and lost their talisman Messi in the summer to PSG.
There is at least some light at the end of the tunnel as they have now tied down one of the brightest stars on the planet until 2026
