Manchester United's Harry Maguire appears to be winning the race to be fit for the huge Premier League clash between Manchester United and Liverpool. His centre-back teammate however Raphael Varane is now doubtful after getting injured for France on international duty.
The two teams will meet at Old Trafford on Sunday 24th October in what promises to be an enthralling encounter as they battle for the top spots.
Maguire On Injury Progress
Speaking to the official Manchester United website, Maguire was upbeat when talking about his injury.
"Yeah it's getting there."
"I still haven't trained yet with the squad, but I am getting better, I am progressing as I should be."
"It is obviously a frustrating injury for me to get, but I am progressing and I will be back on the pitch soon."
Whilst this weekend's match with Leicester is likely to come too soon for the England international, with over ten days to go to the big clash at Old Trafford there will be optimism he will be fit in time.
The news on Varane is not so positive for Red Devils fans as he has been ruled out for 'a number of weeks' following the muscle injury picked up in the Nations League encounter with Spain.
Liverpool will be looking to exploit any weakness as a result of Varane's likely absence in a match which saw the Reds win 4-2 last season.
