Picking one player to sign from Aston Villa: Who would you have?

Ahead of Liverpool's Premier League match against Aston Villa, LFC Transfer Room takes a look at which players they would sign from Villa.

In what needs to be a bounce back game for the Reds, Liverpool play Aston Villa in a Premier League match this Saturday. This match could make or break both club's European football hopes and will be a must watch. Ahead of the match, we take a look at which Aston Villa player we would sign for Liverpool.

Ollie Watkins

Since his arrival at Villa, Ollie Watkins has scored 11 goals in 29 appearances. Not bad for a debut season in the mix with the so called ‘Big Boys’. Watkins is only hitting the ground running and at twenty five his form can only get better.

Ollie Watkins

This is definitely an interesting summer for Liverpool as there have been calls from fans to consider signings in multiple areas, a striker being one of them. With the hot and cold form of Roberto Firmino and the only viable back up being Diogo Jota and in their defence neither are strikers, it may be the time to assess the set up at Merseyside.

The inevitable departures of Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri and possibly Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will leave Liverpool short in depth and a player in Watkins form who has quickly adapted to the Premier League is definitely worth a look.

The obvious fear is that he will not come cheap given Villa’s emergence this season and wanting to make a hefty profit from the Newton Abbot starlet. Unlikely to leave this summer, but a player Liverpool should not take their eyes off.

If Liverpool were tasked with signing one player from Aston Villa I would want no other than Ezri Konsa. The 23 year-old centre-back is comfortable in the air and would also provide Liverpool with an additional set piece threat.

Ezri Konsa

Previously linked with the Reds, would you take Konsa?

The Reds have been previously linked with the Aston Villa defender, so this would be a logical signing to make. Over the past two seasons with Aston Villa, the English defender has featured 51 times, scoring three times.

He completes nearly 85% of his passes and wins an average 2.6 aerial duels per 90 minutes. With the current state of affairs in Liverpool's defensive unit, Konsa would be a welcomed addition to Jurgen Klopp's side.

Jack Grealish

I’d sign Jack Grealish. The transfer would obviously break the bank, but I personally think he is worth the £100 odd million evaluations. A phenomenal dribbler whose personality shines on the pitch when he plays.

Jack Grealish

Grealish celebrates after scoring against Liverpool

Easily top 10 best players in the Premier League for me, with his current team and their calibre of players preventing him from achieving his potential. His confidence on the ball is exactly what Liverpool need in this moment.

If Jack Grealish is playing instead of Sadio Mane in the recent loss to Real Madrid, he would hound their backline till the final whistle as he never shy’s away in big games.
