Liverpool continue their search for the ideal Georginio Wijnaldum replacement, and speculation has increased around possible midfield options that could help fill the void that the Dutchman looks set to leave come the end of the season.
According to recent reports in Italy, Liverpool are ready to make a bid for Inter Milan's star midfielder Nicolo Barella. Many see the Italian playmaker as the perfect replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, with both players sharing a few similar traits in their game.
With growing speculation linking both the Anfield side and the 24-years-old midfielder, we decided to ask Gianluca Di Marzio one of the world's leading journalists about the ongoing links of Nicolo Barella to Liverpool in one of his recent Twitter Space discussions.
"Regarding Barella, Inter Milan don't want to let him go, he is very important for them. I don't think this one will be possible [Liverpool bringing him in the summer], he will be very expensive but Inter don't want to let him go."
It seems like the Italian midfielder will be a tough option to get, and considering his importance to Antonio Conte's side it will surely take an incredibly high figure to lure him away from the Serie A.
Elsewhere, Italian outlet FCNews. It have come out and claimed that Barella has agreed to an extension with Inter Milan, in a deal that will keep him until 2025 with the Nerazzurri as well as almost doubling his wages.
If true, Jurgen Klopp will have to look elsewhere for options, as time is running short with the end of the season and the transfer window closely approaching.
