Former Liverpool Player Says Liverpool Should 'Cash In' On Mohamed Salah 'Tomorrow'

Quotes from David James recently came out and he claimed Salah is holding back other Liverpool players and that they should 'cash in' on the Egyptian.

Mohamed Salah has by far been Liverpool's best player this season and he is the main reason why Liverpool were able to qualify for Champions League football next season.

Since joining in 2017, Salah has proven the doubters wrong time and time again, unfortunately it seems like no matter how many times he proves them wrong there will always be people to downplay his stats and make excuses involving him.

Even though Salah only missed out on the Golden boot by one goal this season, former Liverpool keeper David James has come out and said that Liverpool are a better team without Salah and it would benefit two other players if Liverpool sold him.

James spoke to Stadium Astro and had this to say about the Liverpool forward (Quotes via Express). "In my eyes, he might be second in the Golden Boot running, but I think Liverpool actually play better without Salah."

"The opportunity for Liverpool to maybe cash in on Salah... as you say, Jota then naturally fits into that front three, Firmino gets more freedom arguably."

"Then Liverpool have a new dynamic upfront rather than what seems to be a reliance, or has been a reliance, on Salah's goals" said David James.

James was then asked whether he thought Salah should be sold, he replied, "Yeah, tomorrow. Yeah I'd do it now, I'd do it now".

"This is not about Mo Salah not being a good player, his goal record speaks for itself".

"Similar in statistics to someone like [Sergio] Aguero where Pep Guardiola can look at Man City and not need Aguero".

Finally, the former England No 1 ended it with this, "I think Jurgen Klopp and the way that he's developed this side, Salah has become more of a focal point than that front three we were talking about from seasons before."

From the sound of this interview, it sounds like James has not watched Liverpool for three plus seasons. Yes, this year Liverpool have been reliant on Salah but that's what you do when you have a poor season, you rely on your star player.

But to say we have only relied on him in the past in absolute nonsense. Last season Salah and Sadio Mane were in touching distance all season with the Egyptian finishing on 22 goals and the Senegalese international finishing on 18 goals in the title winning season.

In the 2018/19 season when Liverpool finished runners-up to Manchester City, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah both won the Golden Boot with 22 goals. It's fair to say Sadio's form has dipped this season but some of the stuff David James was saying is so wrong and not factual.

The disrespect towards Mohamed Salah is unbelievable and we're sure Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp will not 'cash-in' on their star player anytime soon.
