One of the most sought after players in world football over the past three seasons has been Jadon Sancho. Since the England international arrived at Borussia Dortmund from Manchester City in 2017, he has quickly become one of the best young talents in football. His emergence in recent years has caught the attention from all the top clubs in Europe, most notably Liverpool and Manchester United.
What could be good news for clubs hoping to obtain Sancho's signature, the player could be bought for a reduced price this summer. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed in a recent twitter post that Borussia Dortmund would be willing to sell the 21 year-old forward for the right bid. Fabrizio Romano also noted that the right bid could be between 80 and 90 million euros.
Although still a massive fee, this is significantly reduced compared to the €120M price tag that Dortmund insisted Manchester United meet last summer.
The ears of Liverpool and Manchester United ears will undoubtedly perk up at this reduced fee but it is more likely that the player ends up at Old Trafford if United are still willing to produce the funds. The Independent's Melissa Reddy recently reported that if Liverpool were interested in the English forwards signature, that they would have to sell one of their star players.
Since signing for the former Bundesliga champions, Jadon Sancho has scored 36 goals in 101 appearances and has been capped 18 times for England.
What could be good news for United fans, could be worrying news for Liverpool fans as they may not get the backing from the clubs owners, Fenway Sports Group, that they might expect after the controversy surrounding the attempted formation of the European Super League.
The red side of Manchester could well be Jadon Sancho's next destination, but United could also face opposition from Chelsea for the young forwards signature.
