Liverpool have announced their Premier League retained list after the 2020-2021 season.
This has confirmed that four academy players will leave the club. The players include Joe Hardy, Liam Coyle, Abdi Sharif and Jack Walls.
Liverpoolfc.com confirmed the news and went on to say this about the departing players. 'Everybody at the club thanks Liam, Joe, Abdi and Jack for their contributions and wishes them the best of luck in their future careers.'
The most surprising departure is Joe Hardy. Hardy was signed from Brentford B in January last season and was highly-rated by people who watch the academy setup.
The 22-year-old played 12 games in the Premier League 2 last season, scoring six goals and getting one assist. It's unfortunate to see someone with good potential go but this decision was made by people who watch him play every day so it must be the right one.
Liverpool also confirmed that they have offered two new contracts to Yasser Larouci and Remi Savage in hopes of keeping the youngsters at the club.
Larouci, being the more recognisable name of the two, was involved in Liverpool's last two pre-seasons and also played two games in the FA Cup in the 2019-2020 season.
In March, Takvim claimed that Turkish side Galatasaray was interested in signing Larouci after he fell down the pecking order with Kostas Tsimikas joining the club.
However it looks like Liverpool are keen to keep the Algerian in the youth set-up and maybe promote him to the first team or they may have a loan lined up for him to help him get more game time. We'll have to wait and see.
