With just under a month until the current Premier League season comes to an end, it is transfer rumours of strikers galore for Liverpool. The club's annual links to Kylian Mbappe have begun to heat up again as well as several other goal-scoring threats. The most recent name to be linked with the Reds is Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.
Inside Futbol are reporting that both Liverpool and AC Milan have spoken to Dusan Vlahovic’s agent in an attempt to strike a deal as well as interest from another Serie A club, reportedly Roma. However, Roma are unlikely to intensify their interest for the Serbian as it is reported he will cost between 40 and 50 million euros.
Vlahovic has been capped seven times for his country, scoring twice including a recent goal against the Republic Of Ireland in a World Cup qualifying game. The Fiorentina forward is enjoying his most impressive spell with the Italian side so far, scoring 17 league goals this season. The 21 year-old is a powerhouse, standing over six feet tall making his strength and aerial ability a nightmare for defences. The Serbia international has reportedly expressed interest in leaving the Italian side at the end of the season.
If the Reds interest in Dusan Vlahovic is concrete, it would be a big departure away from the types of attacking players we are used to seeing Klopp’s Liverpool pursuing. This could possibly be signaling a change in style within the team or the realisation from coaches that a natural striker may be what is needed for Liverpool to challenge for titles again next season.
The large stumbling block of Vlohovic’s price tag will weigh heavy though as 50 million for a young striker who is still too much of an unknown quantity, may be too much of a risky move for Liverpool to pull given the unknown the club faces when it comes to what funds will be available for them to spend this summer.
