It is no secret that Liverpool are in the midst of an injury crisis at the centre-back position.

The club have seen Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk all sidelined with season ending injuries. On top of that, Jurgen Klopp also lost two midfielders that were acting as centre-backs in Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

This has lead Liverpool to be linked with several defensive reinforcements such as Kalidou Koulibaly, Chancel Mbemba and now Ezequiel Garay.

Reports in Spain claim that Liverpool are in advanced negotiations with the Argentinian free-agent over a potential move to Anfield.

Ezequiel Garay has been a free agent since leaving Valencia in February of 2020. He left the club to be released after suffering a cruciate ligament injury to his right knee that sidelined him for six months.

The 34 year-old has had an illustrious career and has played for six different clubs including; Newell's Old Boys, Racing Santander, Real Madrid, Benfica, Zenita Saint Petersburg and Valencia.

The defender has also made 32 appearances for the Argentina national team with his last cap coming in 2015.

The report out of Spain claims that Garay could join at the end of the season as a free transfer. It says that Liverpool reignited their interest after choosing not to sign him in January despite serious interest.
