Liverpool are not short of options to replace Gini Wijnaldum this transfer window. From Renato Sanches to Saul Niguez, a lot of players have been linked with a move to Anfield.
However, one name that people never thought would be possible is Manuel Locatelli of Sassuolo.
Juventus have seemed to have the transfer close to completion for a few weeks now but according to the CEO of Sassuolo, talks have not progressed and they are not willing to sell him after the 8th of August.
"Locatelli wants to join Juve, but they need to reach an agreement with us. He has proposals also from Arsenal and a new English club now in the race, so he needs to decide... or he could stay. We’re NOT selling our stars after August 8" said Sassuolo's CEO.
Arsenal have also been linked with a move for the highly rated midfielder but it seems like Locatelli's mind is already set on joining Juve.
Despite the 24-year-olds clear interest on joining The Old Lady, if Juve can't reach an agreement with his current club then Locatelli may have to settle for another club.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 'the new English club' that Sassuolo's CEO mentioned, is Liverpool.
A bid between €35-€40million is thought to be enough to satisfy the Italian club. However, Juve are trying to make it a loan move with an obligation to buy, similar to how they structured Federico Chiesa’s deal with Fiorentina.
Sassuolo just want the full amount up front or in installments, a loan is not an option for them according to reports.
Locatelli would be a great option and if Juve fail to get the deal done then Liverpool should look to pounce.
