Mohamed Salah has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield this summer. Reports have come out claiming that Liverpool have been keeping tabs on several players including Jadon Sancho in case Salah leaves this summer. Another name rumoured with a Liverpool transfer may not be as exciting, but he is every bit as talented.
Reports from Football League World claim that Liverpool are lining up Emiliano Buendia as a potential Mohamed Salah replacement. The report claims that the Argentine forward is just one of many players that Liverpool are monitoring ahead of a potential Mohamed Salah exit.
Playing for Norwich City in the Sky Bet EFL Championship, Buendia has featured 37 times. In those matches, Buendia has an impressive 14 goals and 17 assists.
The report states that while Liverpool and a host of other Premier League clubs are interested in Buendia, that Norwich are hoping to keep their prized talisman.
While they are up against stiff competition, members of Liverpool's recruitment team think Buendia is 'different class'. Although they have been impressed by his performances, Liverpool brass, including sporting director Michael Edwards, are worried that Norwich's asking price for Buendia's may be too high at the moment.
When speaking on the Red Agenda Podcast, Simon Hughes discussed Salah's situation.
"[Mohamed Salah] would like to stay at Liverpool but he isn’t necessarily getting the impression that Liverpool are quite as keen to get things done as quickly as he wants to."
Will Mohamed Salah be a Liverpool player next season or will he leave this summer?
