Liverpool have been linked with a lot of centre backs this summer and rightfully so after they had their disastrous injury crisis in that position this season.
They seemed to have solved that issue at the moment with the signing of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig for £36million.
However, Liverpool are still being linked to some highly rated centre backs and especially young ones who have massive room for improvement.
The most recent one linked is Atalanta's current centre back, Cristian Romero. Romero, who is currently on loan from Juventus, is said to be of interest to Liverpool,
However, Atalanta do have an option to buy Romero if they see fit.
The Old Lady signed the 23-year-old from Italian side Genoa for £23.4million in 2019.
Romero went straight back on loan to Genoa after signing for Juve and after that loan, Atalanta acquired the centreback's services until June 2022.
Romero has impressed while on loan at Atalanta and won Serie A defender of the year.
The report comes from Sky Italia and it claims that Liverpool have asked Atalanta about Romero and want to be kept in the loop over any possible transfer for the centre back.
The 23-year-old played 42 games for Atalanta this season and has cemented himself as one of Italy's best centrebacks.
It's unsure whether Liverpool are actually serious on purchasing Romero or if it's just a we'll keep tabs on this young highly rated player' type of situation.
Liverpool don't currently need another centre back after signing Konate, especially with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all coming back from injury but if a transfer was available it would definitely be worth a punt on Romero to stop other clubs acquiring his services.
