Liverpool have been linked with a host of centre backs since their injury crisis began. Some of the links, like Ibrahima Konata, went as far as saying medicals were already done and that the player was a shoe-in to join Liverpool in the summer. However, that may not be the case.
Although reports of Ibrahima Konate joining Jurgen Klopp's side this summer are encouraging, they may not be truthful. Since those reports surfaced, new claims say that Liverpool are not set on bringing the Frenchman in to the club. With that being said, Liverpool have been linked with another exciting centre back ahead of a summer move.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Liverpool are preparing a bid for Inter Milan defender Stefan De Vrij.
The report says that while Liverpool have shown serious interest, the Reds also face competition from some familiar clubs. Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have also registered their interest in the Dutch defender in what seems likely to be a transfer bidding war.
Virgil van Dijk's international teammate boasts an impressive 93.7% pass completion which puts him in the 97th percentile compared to all other centre backs in the top five leagues and European competition. With Liverpool building their attack out of the back so much, Stefan de Vrij would be a welcomed addition to Jurgen Klopp's side.
With Ibrahima Konate linked so strongly, the question has to be asked, which defender would you want the club to sign?
