Liverpool will have some tough decisions to make this summer. The Reds have been strongly linked with transfer moves for Red Bull Leipzig's Ibrahima Konate, Schalke's Ozan Kabak (who is currently on loan at Liverpool) as well as Inter Milan's Stefan de Vrij. However, a new name has come into play that may change the club's stance.
Reports claim that Liverpool are now interested in FC Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti. However, although Liverpool are interested in the French defender, they face strong competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal.
The same report that links Umtiti with Liverpool says that Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not convinced that Victor Lindelof of Eric Bailly are fit to be the long-term partner for Harry Maguire.
It also claims that Mikel Arteta wants to find a new centre-back to play alongside Gabriel who has impressed this season.
Liverpool supporters, much like Jurgen Klopp, are aware that the Reds are in desperate need of centre-back reinforcements as the club has been ravaged by an injury crisis with Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk all out for the season with injuries.
The report goes on to say that if Eric Garcia joins Barcelona this summer, Samuel Umtiti would be no longer needed at the Catalonian club. Barcelona, who are said to be in financial ruin, would not be able to afford both Garcia and Umtiti leaving Liverpool hopeful of a cut-price deal.
