The summer transfer window is slowly approaching as Liverpool get ready to end their season in what seams to be an impossible task to finish in the top four. Jurgen Klopp will need to invest heavily this summer, as well as getting rid of many players that are surplus to the requirements in the squad.
During the last few months Liverpool have been heavily linked with multiple players all across Europe. The media know that now is a perfect time for the Reds to look for reinforcements after a terrible season full of injuries, the financial impact of COVID-19 and the below average performances on the pitch.
So we decided to do something new. Here is a starting XI made up of only Liverpool targets that have been linked with the Anfield side lately:
Goalkeeper: Ugurcan Cakir - Trabzonspor
Ugurcan Cakir is probably one of the most recurrent names in Liverpool's transfer rumour mill. If there is one name certain to come back every transfer window is his, almost all the links come from Turkish outlets and it's safe to say that we are not expecting this one to happen any time soon.
Right-back: Aissa Mandi - Real Betis
Aissa Mandi was heavily linked with the Reds since last summer. Many claims had the deal almost as good as done, with his contract at the time being just one year till it ended. Liverpool decided not to purchase the player, and although the links continue till this day, his versatility to play at both flanks at the back makes him the perfect player to take up that right-back role.
Centre-back: Ibrahima Konate - RB Leipzig
One of the most appealing transfer links is the one of Ibrahima Konate to Liverpool. After missing out on his partner Dayot Upamecano, Jurgen Klopp shifted his interest in the 21-year old French centre-back who despite injuries this season, is considered to be one of Europe's brightest prospects. Many claim that the deal is very close to being done, and others even say that a deal has been agreed between Konate and the Anfield side.
Centre-back: Duje Ćaleta-Car - Marseille
Caleta-Car is one that many hoped to see in a Red shirt this January. It was reported that Liverpool tried signing the Croatian defender in the dying embers of the January transfer window, but Marseille had to reject the approach due to lack of time to find a proper replacement.
The defender went as far as confirming that Liverpool made an approach, and recent claims from French outlets say that he is hoping Jurgen Klopp comes back with a new bid this summer.
Left-back: Nuno Mendes - Sporting CP
Nuno Mendes is one of the few players we can almost be sure that will not be joining the Reds. It has been heavily reported that Liverpool have been scouting the Portuguese left-back for some time now. However, considering Sporting placed a €70 million release clause in his contract and the recent addition of Kostas Tsimikas, a move for the young starlet could be categorized as unlikely.
Midfielder: Yves Bissouma - Brighton & Hove Albion
Georginio Wijnaldum has yet to extend his contract at Liverpool and with just a few months left for him to leave on a free transfer, the Reds have to start looking at possible replacements. One of them being Brighton's midfield star Yves Bissouma. The Mali international is just one of the few names that have circled Liverpool's radar, but it is no secret that Jurgen Klopp is an admirer.
Defensive Midfielder: Teun Koopmeiners - AZ Alkmaar
One of the least known players in this list is Teun Koopmeiners from AZ Alkmaar. Koopmeiners is a very impressive midfielder in the Eredivisie and is one of the names that keeps coming back as the transfer window approaches.
Midfielder: Florian Neuhaus - Borussia Mönchengladbach
Fan favorite Florian Neuhaus seems to be the option that most of the Liverpool supporters are hoping to get this window. With Bayern Munich distancing themselves from the race and a €40 million release clause in his contract, a move for him seems very possible.
Some recent reports even go as far as saying that Neuhaus has his heart set on a move to Liverpool, and that he is hoping to work under Jurgen Klopp. Only time will tell if this is true.
Right Winger: Raphinha - Leeds
One of the most exciting players on this list has to be 24-year-old Brazilian Raphinha. The forward has all the qualities a Jurgen Klopp winger needs to have. He is explosive, quick, and very dangerous anywhere in the frontline. However, considering that he just recently joined Leeds, a move for him seems to be either very expensive or just plain unlikely.
Left Winger: Donyell Malen - PSV Eindhoven
Shining this season with a total of 17 goals and 7 assists so far, Donyell Malen is one of the players that has caught the eye of Jurgen Klopp's scouting team. A young player able to play anywhere in the front three suits Liverpool's transfer policy incredibly well.
Striker: Patson Daka - Red Bull Salzburg
Only one word can describe this player. Goals. Patson Daka has scored an impressive number of 24 goals in 24 games this season. That is an impressive goal per game! Such a talent can not be avoided, especially after Erling Haaland's success.
Here is a final look at the lineup as with a classic 4-3-3 setup:
