Liverpool have been heavily linked with Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic this summer. The Serbian had an amazing year in the Serie A, scoring 21 goals in 37 games for the Viola.
With the news that Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and Takumi Minamino may be replaced this summer, the 21-year-old would be a perfect replacement for them.
He has massive room for growth and clearly has the potential to become a world class striker under the right guidance.
Well, former Manchester City player, Stevan Jovetic also seems to think this. Jovetic left Fiorentina for Manchester City in 2013 for a reported £23million but never lived up to his potential in the Premier League.
Jovetic, who also came through the Partizan academy like Vlahovic, gave his opinion on the young Serbian who is linked with a move to Liverpool and Juventus this summer.
Jovetic said: “It’s a similar situation, but I was never tempted to join Juventus from Fiorentina, because I didn’t want to betray the Viola fans,” the striker said.
“These are personal decisions, I am not surprised a top club like Juventus want Vlahovic, he has pace, strength and an eye for the goal.
“He will be the best striker of the next few years with Erling Haaland. So potentially, he is ready for Juventus, but the most important thing is to get consistent playing time when you are as young as him.
“He would find more competition if he joins Juventus, that’s why I would stay one more year in Florence if I were him.”
Despite interest from top clubs, Vlahovic is set to heed the advice of Jovetic and stay at Fiorentina for another season to hone in on his skills.
A smart decision from the young man who if he joined Liverpool or Juventus would not be getting the same game time he is currently at Fiorentina.
However, Liverpool should definitely be constantly scouting the 21-year-old if he does decide to stay in Italy as he clearly has the potential and it would be a shame to see Liverpool not capitalise on signing him in the future.
