Liverpool were linked with a lot of players this summer but one of the more credible links was with Juventus' Italian wonderkid Federico Chiesa.
Chiesa is the son of legendary Italian footballer Enrico Chiesa and by the looks of it he's going to be just as good.
Chiesa is technically on loan from Fiorentina for another season at Juventus, but they have an obligation to buy and all of the clauses have already been meet to trigger it meaning he will be an official Juve player at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old had an unbelievable EUROs, helping his country lift the title and that summer the sharks starting circling.
Back in July, there where whispers of Liverpool approaching Chiesa and trying to convince him to sign. However English journalists rubbished the claims.
Despite this, we held an exclusive interview with Niccolò Misul of www Fiorentina It, too which he said that these whispers were true and that Liverpool had spoken directly to Chiesa but he wants to stay in Italy.
There were even reports that Liverpool put in a bid but Juventus were not willing to listen to offers.
Now, the extremely reliable Di Marzio has confirmed these rumours were true.
“One of the first teams that had asked Fiorentina for Chiesa was Liverpool. But Chiesa said: ‘No, I don’t want to go to the Premier League because I want to stay in Italy.” said Di Marzio.
“He had already promised himself to Juve for a while. Liverpool always arrive early for certain players. They had already arrived for Chiesa, but both Federico and his father said no to the Premier League at that moment.”
Despite rejecting us, it shows that Liverpool do have money for the right players. Chiesa was reported to be worth around €100million EUROS this summer.
Another important thing to note is that Di Marzio said that he doesn't want to join the Premier League 'at the moment'.
This means that one day Chiesa might want to move to England and Liverpool could be in pole position after establishing a relationship with his camp.
