Liverpool have been linked with a lot of midfielders over the past year but with the emergence of Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones, that problem looked to have sorted itself.
However, with Elliott getting injured and some other midfielders picking up injuries Michael Edwards and Jurgen Klopp may dip into the transfer market next summer and pick up someone more reliable.
Former Liverpool player Don Hutchison believes that he knows the perfect man for the job.
Leeds United's Kalvin Phillips.
Speaking to ESPN, Hutchison had this to say about Phillips: "I was at Fulham against Leeds [third round of the League Cup] last week, and Kalvin Phillips absolutely blew me away.
“I watched him live. He played as a centre-back and then whenever Leeds had the ball, he stepped into midfield and played as a midfield player.
“His positional sense was amazing. His passing is outrageous. He has the no-look pass. Balls into the front men. He’s got a two iron and three iron zinger out to the widemen. He has every pass in the locker.
“Everything about him told me that he’s not going to be at Leeds for much longer. There is going to be Liverpool and Man United, all the big clubs are going to want him in the summer.”
It's unlikely Phillips would move to Manchester United as according to his family he 'hates' them but a move to Anfield may be on the cards in the future.
