After an emotional send off for Georginio Wijnaldum at Anfield after Jurgen Klopp's men secured Champions League football for next season, it's been reported that the Dutch international has already found his new club for next season.
Wijnaldum got a standing ovation from the 10,000 lucky fans that were able to attend the final game at Anfield and after the game Gini received a guard of honour from the players and staff.
He was also awarded a plaque of the 'Wall of Champions' that is displayed at The AXA Training Centre.
After the game Wijnaldum said, “I will be a Liverpool supporter for life. The feeling I have, the feeling my family has with this club, is only good things. I hope that it would be possible that I come back to watch a game and support Liverpool.”
"I'm happy I can leave the club behind in the Champions League".
"It's really special. The fans have sung my name. Week-in, week-out they saw I was giving 100% to give everything for this club. That's what the supporters want to see and that's what they appreciate from me. It is something I'm going to miss."
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp also went on to praise Gini Wijnaldum after the game and explain how important he has been to Liverpool's success.
"He came as a top top top player, he is leaving as a world class player and a Liverpool legend. He is an outstanding footballer and much better person." said Klopp
He also went on to say this about the Dutchman leaving, "Gini Wijnaldum is leaving the club and we all love him to bits. We will miss him so much, with football it's normal that people leave, but I will miss him so much".
“Sometimes it’s just not possible that the club can extend contracts for all of the players. It’s normal in football this situation but it doesn’t mean it’s nice. I am sad to lose a friend.”
No matter where Wijnaldum ends up it's clear how highly thought of he was in the club and by Klopp. He is going to be a big miss in the dressing room and Liverpool have a massive job replacing the 30-year-old.
In a tweet from reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano, he has said Wijnaldum is set to join Barcelona as a free agent until June 2024. Fabrizio also said that Wijnaldum was approached by Bayern Munich and PSG but nothing has ever been agreed.
In another report from Sky yesterday, they claim that the sizeable hole in midfield may be filled with highly rated midfielder, Yves Bissouma. Who has a lot of interested parties trying to sign him after his amazing season.
Bissouma has been linked to numerous top clubs including Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City but it looks like Liverpool are going to try and sign him to replace the ever-present Georginio Wijnaldum.
