Manchester City face an in-form West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday, just three days after their first leg victory in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
With a historic 19 consecutive wins under their belt, Pep Guardiola will know full well the tough match up with David Moyes’ tenacious West Ham side bring after being held to a 1-1 draw back in October.
Given the relentlessness & difficulty of City’s current schedule, Guardiola is fortunate enough to have all but Nathan Aké fit and available. Plus, with the quick turn around from the Champions League, we anticipate Pep will reshuffle the pack this weekend’s match.
With that in mind here's our predicted team for the game...
Ederson of course will continue his spot in net. At right back, we see none other than Joao Cancelo retaining his spot in the side after his stupendous man of the match performance in Europe. Naturally, with the Portuguese full-back retuning the right flank, John Stones will make a reappearance at the heart of defence to cover Cancelo’s vacated zone once he drifts into midfield.
Alongside the Yorkshireman will, of course, be Ruben Dias as he continually demonstrates his commanding influence over this City side. Slotting in at left-back, we suspect Oleksandr Zinchenko will return to the starting eleven after missing out in midweek.
In midfield, Rodri will retain his place after a wonderful performance in midweek - barring the nightmarish back pass in the final moments. His aerial ability and combative style will be essential against West Ham’s dominant central midfield pairing of Declan Rice & Thomas Soucek.
Alongside the Spaniard we believe Ilkay Gundogan will be given a rest in place of Kevin De Bruyne, as the Belgian was an unused sub in midweek. Bernardo Silva will also continue in the midfield after a superb performance, notching a goal and an assist.
Up front, we imagine it will be the three who were all removed early in midweek, presumably in an effort for those players to recuperate. Raheem Sterling & Phil Foden will alternate on the wing with Gabriel Jesus as the lone striker.
Substitutes: Zack Steffen, Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy, Eric Garcia, Aymeric Laporte, Fernandinho, Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez and Sergio Agüero.
