Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne was delighted with the way his teammates reacted after Marco Reus scored a late equaliser in the Champions League Quarter-Final first leg.
Kevin De Bruyne, who captained the Manchester City side in the fixture and scored the opening goal, spoke after the result about the reaction from his colleagues after conceding the late equaliser.
“When they came back to 1-1, it’s a shame but it happens, but the reaction from us was good”, the Belgian said.
He continued, "2-1 is a tricky score, but at least we go into the second leg ahead. In the first half we had a little bit of difficulty creating decent chances, but we did better in the second half. We maybe should have scored more.”
The midfielder played a crucial part in the performance, scoring the opening goal after prodding home a well-placed pass from winger Riyad Mahrez, and placing a textbook Kevin de Bruyne delivery into Ilkay Gundogan, who off-loaded the ball to Phil Foden to snatch the winner.
Kevin De Bruyne will be hoping for another stand-out performance, when Manchester City travel to Dortmund for the second leg next week, while Pep Guardiola reiterated the urge to go to Germany and win the game as opposed to defending their lead.
