Pep Guardiola has confirmed in his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash against Sheffield United that both Sergio Aguero and Nathan Ake will miss out.
It was revealed on Thursday morning that the Argentine forward would undergo a new Covid-19 test after his contraction of the virus two weeks ago, as well as a general fitness test in the event of a negative test.
However, since that revelation, Pep Guardiola has since revealed that Sergio Aguero has not returned to training with the rest of the first-team squad due to the results of said test not being received by the club at present.
On the topic of Nathan Ake, who has endured a relatively inconsistent start to life at the Etihad Stadium due to fitness problems, Pep Guardiola also confirmed that the Dutch international is unavailable for the weekend's clash.
Other than the aforementioned problems within the squad, there are no further injury issues for Manchester City, as they gear up to face a Sheffield United side who will undoubtedly be high in confidence after their remarkable 2-1 victory at Old Trafford earlier this week.
Pep Guardiola and his squad will have the opportunity to move four points clear at the top of the Premier League table. Following Manchester United's defeat in the week, City are now the outright leaders in the top-flight, with a game in hand on the teams below them at the top of the table.
