According to Spanish newspaper AS, as relayed by Sport Witness, the father of Flamengo midfielder Reinier met with Manchester City in order to discuss a potential transfer, whilst Premier League rivals Arsenal also made their interest known.
Reinier only made his debut for Flamengo in July last year, but has already begun to impress, finishing his maiden season with six goals and two assists in the league alone.
Wednesday’s edition of AS suggested that Reinier’s father visited Manchester City’s facilities while making the trip to the North-West. Alongside City and Arsenal, there is also mention of Liverpool, PSG, Everton and Borussia Dortmund pursuing the young midfielder.
Unfortunately for all of the aforementioned clubs, Real Madrid are expected to win the race for the youngster. The La Liga side are waiting for him to turn 18 on the 19th January and will make the €30 million move official by handing him a six-and-a-half-year contract.
