Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has recently spoken about the relationship he has with defensive duo John Stones and Ruben Dias, as well as the effect that the departure of David Silva has had on the side.
Speaking about in-form defender Stones to the official club website, Ederson said, “He’s a great centre back, I have always really liked him, and we get along really well. I have always supported him, and I am delighted about his recent success. I think he deserves everything.”
The Brazilian international continued, “In the last few games, John [Stones] and Ruben [Dias] have been at a very good level. I am happy with their performance and the performance of the defensive line in general. I hope we can keep it up in the future!”
It is clear that the Brazilian is very fond of the recent surge in Stones’ form and the signing of Dias from Benfica in the summer – with the side having the best defensive record so far this season in the Premier League.
Ederson had more praise to give out when asked about the departure of David Silva to Real Sociedad in the previous window. He said, “To me, he is one of the best players I have ever seen. His talent is unbelievable. But, on the other hand we have Phil Foden now, and he has experienced a massive growth this season.”
Foden (20) has made 25 appearances under Guardiola so far this season, netting an impressive nine goals in the process to tie him for top scorer spot with Raheem Sterling.
Is Phil maybe starting to fill the void that has grown following David Silva’s departure?
