As Sergio Aguero prepares to leave the Manchester City at the end of the season, closing the book on an era of players that will go down as some of the club's most successful, future club star Phil Foden has opened up about the impact some of those era-defining players have had on him.
The 20 year-old recognised the key role that players like Sergio Aguero, and former club captain Vincent Kompany had on his development at the club.
In speaking to the club during a bespoke feature on their website, the 20 year-old midfielder admitted how he wished the Belgian defender was still at Manchester City today.
“You can see by my face, what I think of him [Vincent Kompany]. A great captain, great role model, looked after himself - did everything right; eating, sleeping, always in the gym. I looked up to him massively, I wish he was still at City now!"
On Sergio Aguero, Phil Foden was quick to point out the welcoming presence the Argentine provided in the dressing room - and the England international felt this from his very first day with the senior team.
“He’s been so nice to me, ever since I came into the building. He’s always so nice, making me feel welcome!”, said Foden.
Foden, who grew up a Manchester City fan in the era he is now succeeding, will be poised to take the baton from his, soon to be, former leaders.
