Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan sat down with Sky Sports for an exclusive interview this weekend in which he spoke out about working under Pep Guardiola, and his current hot streak of form for his club.
In the form of a True or False question, when asked if his current form is the best of his career, Ilkay Gundogan said, "True because I would say in terms of numbers obviously, I think I’ve never really reached that amount of goals and goal involvements in a season so far.”
While he did spend a number of years playing for Jurgen Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund, when asked if Pep Guardiola is the best manager he has ever played for, the German had this to say:
“I feel like tactically Pep is the best I have ever seen to be honest… the way he is looking into all the details of the game is incredible and he tries to transmit that on the pitch.”
Gundogan also revealed that before he signed for the Etihad club, Manchester United were interested in snatching up his signature.
"Kind of true, there were talks. It was two or three years before I joined City."
As the 30 year-old eluded to, he is currently in the form of his life. Chipping in with 11 goals in 19 Premier League matches this season.
