The ever-daunting annual UEFA Champions League quarter-final for Manchester City is just another game of football, claims Pep Guardiola.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side have stalled at this stage in the competition in three consecutive seasons, which some believe has led to a mental block for the squad when it comes to the quarter-final.
However, according to the Manchester City boss when speaking ahead of Tuesday night's clash, the game against Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund will be treated as business as usual.
“Everyone in this club and other clubs wants to go as far as possible. One thing is what we want and after the facts you have to show it on the grass and beat the opponents, as we have done many times in all competitions", said Pep Guardiola in Monday afternoon’s press conference.
He continued, “I want to be honest with you. I prepare this game like I prepared the previous one and the one before that and all the games in the last two to four months. What they do, who they are, introduce to the players and try to win this game. it is not about how many goals we will concede or score, just win the game.”
While many will feel that this tie brings an abnormal amount of pressure to the squad, Pep Guardiola feels that football is just football. "It looks more special but it is a football game like the Carabao Cup or Premier League", the boss exclaimed.
